When most people think about Cadbury, they picture a bar of Dairy Milk slowly melting in their hands during a failed attempt at portion control. Fewer associate it with an immersive, multi-zoned attraction in the English Midlands - part chocolate factory, part family theme park, part gently surreal branding experience. But Cadbury World in Birmingham has been quietly delivering just that for three decades now, all without the fanfare (or queues) of its louder cousin, the chocolate-hued mouse down in Berkshire. It's a place where families go to learn how chocolate is made, let their kids run off excess sugar on an indoor play structure, and - naturally - buy more chocolate than they can reasonably eat on the car ride home.
What You Get for the Money
Standard ticket prices start from £22 if booked online in advance, and while that won't get you access to a rollercoaster or a petting zoo, it will buy you entry to 14 themed "zones", a couple of chocolate samples, a 4D cinema experience (yes, really), and the satisfaction of watching your children attempt to temper chocolate without it ending up in their hair.
There’s also a "Multi-Attraction" ticket from £35 that links Cadbury World with other Merlin attractions - namely LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and the National SEA LIFE Centre. It's a bit of a grab bag, but for those trying to fill two days’ worth of school holiday time, it presents a certain logistical efficiency. At the very least, it’s an excuse to say "we went to three tourist sites and only one of them was made entirely of chocolate".
Easter and Other Gimmicks (The Acceptable Kind)
Cadbury World leans hard into seasonal programming, and Easter is its Superbowl. This year’s live show - "Mr. Cadbury’s Parrot Easter Egg-stravaganza" - runs 5th to 27th April, with several stage times daily. No one’s pretending this is West End theatre, but it is energetic, kid-friendly, and manages to hold attention long enough for adults to quietly google "is there caffeine in a Creme Egg?"

The Easter Bonnet Parade and Egg Trail are exactly what you'd expect and no less charming for it. Meanwhile, the Character Afternoon Tea experience offers the unique opportunity to sip tea while being gently stared at by a man in a Freddo costume. Worth it? Possibly. Surreal? Undeniably.
The Shop: Exit Through the Guilt
No British attraction saga is complete without a gift shop funnel exit, and Cadbury World’s delivers on this with the kind of retail fervour usually reserved for airports. You will emerge, slightly disoriented, blinking into a purple haze of bulk-buy Freddos, chocolate novelty items that melt before you reach the car, and multipacks so large they feel like sugar-themed survival kits.
Prices are standard theme-park inflated, but if you’re armed with a voucher or multi-ticket discount, the sting is softened. Occasionally, bundles and seasonal offers (mostly online) knock a few quid off here and there. Worth checking before you go. And while there’s no 'unlimited chocolate' pass, the complimentary samples do just enough to distract younger visitors from asking for your PIN at checkout.
The Verdict
Cadbury World isn’t Willy Wonka’s factory, and - mercifully - it doesn’t try to be. There are no golden tickets, no Oompa Loompas, and the chocolate river is, thankfully, not real. But for families looking for a brief and oddly sincere celebration of one of Britain’s most enduring confections, it’s a reasonably priced, occasionally delightful day out. Just don’t come hungry, or you'll end up buying your own body weight in Buttons.
