Walking into a room and closing the door behind you isn’t usually something you think twice about - unless, of course, that door doesn’t shut properly, or clashes with the rest of the room like a toddler at a black-tie wedding. Good doors don’t demand attention. They just open, close, and provide a fragile illusion of acoustical privacy. But finding a door that does all of this without looking like a crime against joinery? That’s where things get mildly complicated. Or at least, mildly time-consuming.
Door Superstore is a UK-based online retailer doing what it says on the tin: selling an improbably exhaustive number of doors and door-related things. We’re talking internal, external, fire-rated, pre-glazed or not, cottage-style, uPVC, XL Oak, Primed White, handles, linings, draught excluders - even adhesives. It's for people who know what a casing is, and those who don’t but suspect they’re about to find out.
At first glance, Door Superstore seems like the kind of place you'd land on from a panicked Sunday night search after your new tenant reported the bathroom door fell off. But the sheer breadth here - over 6,000 listed products - hints at something more than panic-buying. The site caters to tradespeople, landlords, and the kind of DIYers who update skirting boards in leisurewear. The navigation tries its best to sort the excess, splitting doors by brand (XL Joinery, JB Kind, Deanta, et al), type (internal, external, glazed, flush, etc.), and finish (oak, white, unfinished oak stain for people who enjoy chores).
Not all categories are created equal. The oak internal door section is particularly expansive, with several models receiving additional discounting, like the XL Joinery Oak Palermo range, which currently gets you up to 10% off. Internal doors are often eligible for next-day delivery - a detail you’ll appreciate if you’re mid-renovation and slightly losing your mind.
This isn’t a site that screams "50% OFF!!!" at you with flashing banners and countdown timers. Discounts are modest - 5 to 10% off selected styles, some clearance offers, and one or two seasonal promotions. Worth noting: you can also score points via their rewards scheme (‘SUPER rewards,’ because of course), and while the effort-to-rebate ratio might not change your life, every little helps when you’re furnishing a three-bed remodel door-by-door.
The voucher situation? Sparse. You’ll occasionally find a code floating around for free delivery or a fixed discount on specific ranges, but this isn’t Groupon territory. Pricing is generally competitive, though - particularly if you’re buying in multiples or eyeing their own brand doors, which occupy that sweet spot between "not horrible" and "decent enough for a rental property."
Delivery charges depend on size and postcode. Smaller items (hardware, accessories) ship quicker and cheaper. Larger doors, especially external models, may take longer. And yes, there are kerbside restrictions - don’t expect them to hoist a 45kg oak slab up your loft conversion stairs.
Returns are available within 30 days, as long as the door hasn’t been painted, drilled, cut or otherwise customised - in other words, make sure it fits before you get ambitious with tools or varnish. Fair warning: restocking fees for returns might apply, and if the item’s damaged on arrival, they encourage you to document everything immediately. Not a bad habit, given the way couriers treat fragile parcels these days.
If you’ve ever puzzled over the difference between a latch handle and a mortice knob, you’re not alone. The site includes a full section on handles, hinges, knobs and accessories - useful, if slightly overwhelming in its combinations. We found the Door Handle Packs section particularly functional - picking a pre-matched set avoids the aesthetic chaos of chrome handles on matte black hinges.
There’s also a small but intriguing rabbit hole of silent door hardware. Soft-close hinges, magnetic catches, and other gadgets for people who've tried to shut a door quietly during a Zoom call. It’s oddly affirming to know someone somewhere has engineered a better way to shut out your housemate’s podcast addiction.
Door Superstore isn’t a lifestyle brand pretending your life will change because your toddler’s playroom now has a frosted glass shaker door. It’s a serious parts bin of doors and door-adjacent materials built for doing the job, meeting regs, and getting projects off your to-do list before quarter-end. The UI could be friendlier, and it’s easy to feel lost among the 27 subtly different shades of white oak, but the support content - including installation guides, size charts, and fire door regs - does a solid job of dragging you back to earth.
Is it glamorous? No. Does it work? Yes. Most of the action happens behind doors anyway.
