Talk to anyone who’s ever spent too long trying to corral a hosepipe into a shed, or shove a ladder into the back of a broom cupboard, and they’ll tell you: convenience has a price. Usually around £79.99, unless it's on sale. Easylife - essentially the Argos of the over-60s with less of the laminate and more carrot-friendly scissors - has made a business out of minor domestic miracles. Fold-out tables, expandable hoses, talking watches that might be a bit too eager to talk. It’s not glamorous, but neither is dropping a pantograph hedge trimmer on your foot. Their spring deals are live, and while this isn’t the kind of thing you Instagram, some of it is actually useful.

Expanding Hercul-Easy Hose – £14.99 (down from £19.99)

Yes, it’s another expanding hose. But this one sounds like a minor Greek deity and comes with £20 worth of accessories 'free', including a carrying bag that looks suspiciously like something your lunch came in. Claims to expand up to three times its length and "last 18x longer" which, if true, makes it the Keith Richards of garden hoses.

The five-year burst-proof guarantee is the standout here. Dr Peter Nash, a civil engineer who reluctantly became his family’s go-to garden gadget tester, puts it plainly: "Most hoses die because they’re cheap. If this one doesn’t split after two summers, it’s already above average."

Genius® Safety Step Ladder – £59.99 (was £79.99)

If you're balancing on a wobbly dining chair to change a bulb in 2025, you've already lost. This four-step ladder has sturdy support rails and a name that may be pushing its luck slightly. But it’s functional, folds flat, and is less likely to upend you into A&E.

"It’s the sort of thing your dad buys and you mock him for - until you need it," says Fiona Hale, a home safety consultant we spoke to. "Then you’re weirdly grateful." At under 60 quid during the sale, it undercuts rivals like Hailo or Werner on price, if not quite on polish.

Radio Controlled Talking Watch – £39.99 (down from £79.99)

This one promises accuracy to the second - 138 million years into your calendar, allegedly. Useful if you’re running late for a Paleolithic staff meeting. The voice function is loud and clear, which is ideal if your eyesight or patience isn’t what it used to be. But the design? Let’s say functionally retro. Think "warden from an early ‘90s science fiction drama" rather than "smartwatch competitor."

Still, it syncs automatically to the atomic clock and doesn’t need fiddling. "It tells the right time no matter what," says audio engineer Marcus Liu. "That’s more than I can say for most smartwatches." Whether it’s worth £40 depends on your relationship to both punctuality and dignity.

Outdoor Garden Storage Box – £59.99 (was £69.99)

This is a plastic chest for your garden tools, patio cushions, and misplaced ambitions of building a pizza oven. It’s functional, weatherproof-ish, and assembled with minimal swearing. You can sit on it, too - though not for long without wondering why you didn’t just buy a bench.

No brand name here, and no illusions either. It’s the kind of box you forget about until you realise it’s still there after a winter of storms and half your neighbour’s fence falling into your rosemary.

Pillar Fruit Trees – £29.99 (Set of 3)

"From the Queen’s gardens to yours," claims the copy, which is a bit like saying your Tesco cauliflower is from Versailles. Still, for under £30 you get three slim-profile trees bred for small spaces. They won’t feed a family, but they might give you the smug satisfaction of harvesting your own fruit without leaving your patio.

They’re not plug-and-play - you’ll need a bit of patience and a pot with decent drainage. And sunlight. And realistic expectations. Horticulturalist Joanna Field cautions: "They’ll fruit, but not wildly. Treat it as a novelty, not an orchard."

Student & NHS Discounts, Returns & Reality

Easylife does offer extra savings for NHS staff and students, though you’ll need to verify details through Blue Light Card or Student Beans. Returns are fairly straightforward, though the catalogue-heavy model feels a little analog next to the algorithmic precision of, say, Amazon. Then again, there's something oddly reassuring about a company that still lists a phone number (03330 300 888) and a literal catalogue.

It’s not sleek, but it’s not pretending to be. Easylife sells low-drama tools and gadgets that solve small but persistent domestic problems - without requiring an app, a firmware update, or a particularly high tolerance for nonsense. And despite the name, it's not always easy. But the ladders do fold, the hoses do expand, and if you need to know the exact time in 138 million years, well, they’ve got that covered too.

What you need to know

Easylife Voucher Codes & Savings

  • Savings with Easylife discount codes: On average, customers save £16 per order using a valid promo code.
  • Frequency of discounts: Based on our data, Easylife runs sales about 20% of the year.

Easylife Shipping

If you live on the UK mainland and enjoy the thrill of waiting for parcels, Easylife offers two options: standard delivery (£5.99, 3–5 working days) or express (£8.99, 1–2 working days). Most orders arrive within five days—usually. They politely ask for up to seven, in case something goes wrong. Which, of course, it might.

Delivery costs climb as geography becomes less convenient. Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands are charged £7.99, with delivery expected in six working days. Channel Islands residents pay a steeper £15.99, for the same six-day wait. The Republic of Ireland is not on the list at all.

Easylife Returns

To cancel or return an order, Easylife would rather you call. Why? They suggest it’s “preferred,” without elaborating. Returns are covered by a money-back guarantee, though postage and packing costs may not be. If items arrive in multiple shipments, you’re not charged extra delivery. Small mercies.
