A health and safety policy is a document laying out to what extent a company is committed to protecting health and safety, who is responsible for it, who it applies to and instructions on how to eliminate or reduce the hazards in a workplace.

How often should a health and safety policy be reviewed?

While there is no strict requirement as to how often a health and safety policy must be reviewed, companies are encouraged to review their health and safety policies at least once a year as a matter of best practice.

Do I need a health and safety policy?

You will need a health and safety policy if you employ five or more people. However, do note that companies have a duty of care to their employees from harm during the course of their work. This applies with or without a written health and safety policy.
