About Gary

Gary has over 18 years' experience as a specialist privacy and data protection practitioner and has provided data protection compliance advice to some of the UK's leading businesses, including in-house secondments as a DP lawyer to Tesco (in 2003) and BP (2008 to date). Gary trained as a specialist data protection lawyer at Berwin Leighton Paisner and headed the Data Protection practice at BLP from 2004 to 2007.
Since 2007, Gary has operated as a sole consultant, providing practical privacy and data protection compliance advice to a range of clients.

He has particular expertise of the data protection compliance issues affecting retailers, e-businesses, energy companies and television companies, but has experience across all sectors including the public sector. 

Gary advises on the full range of privacy and data protection compliance issues from advising on company-wide data protection audits and compliance programmes to managing cross-border data transfer issues (including BCR), data security breaches, customer loyalty schemes, profiling and direct marketing campaigns, as well as dealing with investigations from the regulator.
