For a service promising "100% customer satisfaction guaranteed," Optimalprint doesn’t exactly scream excitement - and maybe that’s part of the appeal. In the land of hyperbole, it's oddly reassuring to find a company that does what it says on the tin: prints things, promptly, and lets you stick a photo of your dog on most of them. No confetti cannons, no lifestyle influencers dancing through fields. Just functional personalisation with a flash of sentimentality printed right onto a ceramic mug. Or a tote bag. Or a wall.
If you've ever looked around your home and thought "everything here looks far too generic" or "not enough people know my dog likes to nap weird," Optimalprint might be a useful addition to your bookmarks. More practically, it’s a decent choice for personalised gifts that won’t make anyone wince - even if they don’t elicit tears of joy either.
Optimalprint is currently offering up to 85% off a good chunk of its product catalogue, which includes everything from wall art to water bottles. But as with most sales boasting unusually high percentages, take a breath. The "original" pricing often leans aspirational - £27 for a personalised mug feels ambitious - but with the markdown applied, things start landing in more reasonable territory.
Photo books are 70% off, which brings them below the £10 mark depending on page count. Wall art is up to 85% off - more specifically, canvas prints, which now start around £8 for smaller sizes. If you need personalised cards in bulk (wedding thank-you notes, baby announcements, or that elusive "sorry for ghosting your WhatsApp" genre), there’s a 65% discount there too.
All products are printed in the UK, which helps with delivery times - and most orders arrive within 2 to 5 days. Shipping is fast, but not always free unless you sign up for Optimalprint Plus, their paid loyalty program. It costs £10.90 a year and includes perks like free delivery and an extra 10% back in store credits, assuming you plan to buy more than one mug with your cat’s face on it over the next twelve months.
They claim a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which is corporate for "email us if something goes wrong." We didn’t find many customer complaints that weren’t quickly resolved, and the return policy is mostly no-fuss. Customised items can’t be resold - your brother-in-law’s face on a beach towel doesn’t hold much market value - so they’ll either reprint it or refund you.
Where Optimalprint treads firmly is in the "inoffensively heartwarming" niche. The design templates avoid the trap of looking too Etsy or too boardroom, and uploading your images can be done without needing a UX diploma. Customisation is browser-based, intuitive, and doesn’t guilt-trip you with pop-ups declaring "Your memory deserves better" the second you hesitate.
Photo books are functional rather than luxurious. The print quality is decent, especially in good lighting, though we wouldn’t recommend them for your Magnum Opus. Wall art is similar - pleasant enough at a distance, better if your image isn’t a low-res screenshot. The mugs? Dependably giftable, dishwasher-safe, and just ironic enough for your sarcastic colleague’s birthday.
It’s easy to roll your eyes at yet another paid ‘members club,’ but Optimalprint Plus doesn’t overpromise. Free delivery and some extra discount wiggle room could make it worthwhile if you’re planning multiple orders - say, a calendar for every grandparent or matching canvas prints of your recent honeymoon. If not, it’s best to just time your one-off purchase with a sale (which is almost always happening, frankly).
Optimalprint is not here to disrupt the greeting card-industrial complex. It won’t reimagine the mug. What it does offer - rapid UK printing, a high volume of templated designs, and consistently heavy promotions - is serviceable and scrupulously middle-of-the-road. Which, in the peculiar stress-saturated world of giftery, might be exactly what you want.
It also quietly understands that you might not remember your anniversary until three days before, or that your mother-in-law really likes framed photos of your baby’s back-of-the-head. Optimalprint doesn’t judge. It just prints the photo, sends it on time, and offers a soft discount in return for your loyalty.
And even if your personalised calendar goes straight into a drawer, at least you bought it at 70% off.
