It's not that we don’t respect a good impulse buy, but most of us - at least in theory - aren’t looking to stuff our homes with more things that don’t serve a purpose. The problem, of course, is that function has started wearing a slightly more attractive outfit. Practicality now comes in frosted glass, matte finishes, and Instagram-friendly shapes. You’re not buying a butter dish; you’re "elevating your countertop". And when everything is suddenly half price, restraint becomes slightly less noble and slightly more negotiable.
Deals Worth the Mild Click Effort
Roov is one of those online retailers that hovers somewhere between deal site and lifestyle shop. It sells homeware, kitchen gear, garden bits... the sort of items you probably didn’t know you needed until a slideshow convinced you otherwise. This week, Roov is running a clearance event with some curious markdowns - some useful, some purely decorative, all suspiciously affordable. Free delivery kicks in at £49, so you might as well commit or move on.
Take the Heat Powered 3 Blade Stove Fan from M&W. At £9.99 (down from £29.99), it seems purpose-built for anyone who still uses a log burner and wants to believe in thermodynamic efficiency. It works without electricity and moves heat from your stove further into the room. This is the sort of product that's impressive at a dinner party, as long as no one asks how often you actually use it.
The Double Walled Coffee Glasses with Handles - available in 275ml and 350ml sets for £5.99 and £6.99 respectively - are trying hard to be stylish, and mostly succeed. They’re good for avoiding burned fingers, though they give off mild chemistry-lab energy. Still, if you're committed to making your beverages aesthetically photogenic, you could do worse.
Things That Might Genuinely Improve Your Life (Or at Least Your Mornings)

The Stainless Steel Gravy Boat – 500ml (£8.99, previously £20.99) is more than just an oddly specific gift for your aunt. It’s a decent size and refreshingly dishwasher-safe. Gravy, cream, custard - it doesn’t judge.
Also useful: the 2.2L Clip-Top Storage Jar from M&W (£5.99). It looks like it should contain lentils you bought with great intentions last spring. Good seal, good size, and the kind of thing that helps trick you into feeling organised.
Decor That Probably Won’t Upset You
The Show & Listen White Vinyl LP Frame (£14.99) turns your record collection into rotatable wall art. And yes, you'll probably still end up leaving the same album on display for six months straight. But at least it’ll look intentional.
Then there’s the Grey Ceramic Leaf Vases – Set of 2 (£4.99 from £29.99), which are either minimalist or vaguely funereal, depending on how you style them. Not offensive, though - absolutely a win in the decorative object category.
Quietly Useful, Occasionally Questionable

The Draught Excluders - two for £9.99 - do what you expect. They block drafts. They’re grey. They exist outside of any aesthetic trend cycle, which is arguably their best feature.
And there are the Saucepan Dividers (£10.99), which are either a genius solution to shared meals or one more thing you’ll forget exists on the back shelf. Your call.
Verdict: Scroll Carefully, Purchase Selectively
Roov’s sale isn’t going to transform your home into an Architectural Digest spread, but it might make it marginally neater, warmer, or marginally more bearable to re-enter on Monday mornings. Most items are priced to experiment without too much regret. And that’s kind of the point.
Just remember, there’s a fine line between "I could use this" and "this will live in a junk drawer next to the lasagna noodles shaped like dinosaurs." Shop accordingly.
