Bathrooms are where optimism goes to die. That wall-mounted storage unit you convinced yourself would spark joy behind every soft-close drawer? It’s now sporting an uneven tilt and a suspicious damp patch. Your walk-in shower - remember the euphoric Google reviews? - fogs up immediately and leaks slightly more than it should. And the LED mirror that promised hotel-luxe lighting makes you look permanently underslept. Welcome to the slow heartbreak of home renovation.
Royal Bathrooms is currently running a Spring sale with some not-unreasonable discounts - up to 70% off, though (predictably) that figure applies to the odd clearance item rather than the ones you actually want. Still, there are usable offers here. A solid 21% off the Regal Walk In Wet Room Shower Screen with Brushed Brass Mesh, for instance, brings it down to a slightly more breathable £599 from its original £759. It's high-spec (10mm toughened glass) and lends a certain minimalist-boutique-hotel feel - assuming you can stomach brushed brass. You’ll know if you can.
On the lighting front, the Capri Round Front-Lit LED Mirror ticks most boxes: backlit, with a demister, in a brushed brass finish that walks the tightrope between warm elegance and influencer cliché. It’s currently £134.99 (down from £158.99), which is tolerable. The demister pad genuinely works, though the lighting will remind you that maybe one gin and tonic was enough last night.
Toilets rarely get their moment in the spotlight, and that’s probably best for everyone involved. That said, the Elva Close Coupled Rimless Toilet does the job: compact, functional, and rimless (which sounds like an abstract art piece but just makes for easier cleaning). It comes in at £179.99 with cistern and soft-close seat included. The flush is efficient, the aesthetic is quietly modern, but no, it will never be the focal point of your Instagram stories. Nor should it be.
Shower enclosures are where budget and ambition go to war. The Milan Matt Black Rectangle Sliding Door enclosure tries to reconcile the two with a clean frame, 6mm glass and minimalist hardware. It starts at £449.99, depending on size. It looks the part, though bear in mind: 6mm glass is perfectly fine for standard use, but it doesn’t have the sturdiness of more premium 8mm or 10mm options. Just caution against hip-checking it at speed.
A touch of black in your taps still says "modern sophistication" without being overly try-hard. The Core Mono Basin Mixer Tap in Matt Black isn’t reinventing plumbing, but at £119.99, it’s a straightforward win if your existing tap dates back to when Coldplay still had edge. Finish is good, functionality is sound, and installation is tolerable (if you’ve got a half-decent plumber or YouTube patience).
As always, the trick with sales like these is to filter ruthlessly. There's a temptation to over-upgrade - to buy a larger vanity unit than you have space for, or to fall for the brushed brass everything trend that may quietly expire the moment your courier leaves. The good news: Royal Bathrooms features a selection that balances trend with semi-timeless. Mostly.
Stackable discounts aren’t game-changing, but if you find a valid voucher code (a few float around quietly online, though don’t expect miracles), you’ll shave a little more off the total. Free delivery sweetens the deal a bit too. Given the awkward size and weight of most of these products, anything that softens the logistical blow is welcome.
Royal Bathrooms won’t radically reshape your sense of domestic enlightenment. But in the overhyped, underspecified world of bathroom e-commerce, that might be a strength. The site is oddly usable, the deals are better than average, and most of the products will be exactly what they look like: functional, moderately stylish, and eventually damp. Much like the room they’re going in.
