Motorcycle gear isn’t exactly glamorous. It’s functional, it’s necessary, and, let’s be honest, it’s often priced as if it were hand-stitched by monks in a wind tunnel. So it’s mildly pleasant to see Webbs Motorcycles - the long-running UK dealership with a sensible head on its shoulders - running a proper spring sale, with some items marked down by up to 50 percent. Not everything is a steal, and some sizes and colours have evidently vanished into the ether already. But there are a few decent finds here, especially if you’re tired of overpaying for jackets that double as medieval armour.
A Sale That’s Not Trying Too Hard
Sales on motorcycle clothing tend to follow two rules: you get wildly niche stuff no one wanted the first time, or decent kit that’s almost - but not quite - cheap enough to justify yet another jacket or helmet you don’t strictly need. Webbs’ spring sale manages to bounce somewhere in between. It’s big, slightly chaotic, and clearly moving stock. Which is fine. Because some of that stock is actually good.
The Venti Descent Waterproof Textile Jacket is down to £99.99 from £199.99, which makes it a respectable mid-range option. Venti isn’t exactly a household name (unless your household is a motorcycle garage), but they’ve got the basics covered - waterproofing, decent build quality, nothing flashy. It’s the kind of jacket you buy because you’re tired of freezing at traffic lights. The matching Channel trousers are also reduced, now £89.99 - not groundbreaking, but they’ll do the job when the British weather inevitably forgets it’s spring.
Leather & Race Suits (For Aspirational Speed)
The Triumph Triple Sport Race Suit is down to £399.99 from £800.00, which sounds dramatic until you remember that full leather race suits usually cost more than your first motorcycle. It’s not a deal for the faint of heart (or wallet), but if you do track days - or just like the idea of looking like you do - this suit is legitimate. It’s Triumph-branded, which means it's likely more than just a rebadged offcut, though be prepared for the usual Triumph premium on branding.
Also in leather: the Triumph Braddan Sport Jacket at £424.99. Not exactly cheap for something with "sport" in the name, but the fit and finish are solid. There’s gold detailing, for reasons no one really needs to understand, but the jacket itself remains premium-grade. Probably ill-suited to frequent coffee stops unless you want to be recognised repeatedly as "that guy in the jacket."
Helmets: Fewer Deals Than You’d Think
Not everything in Webbs’ helmet section is worth chasing. Some of the better options have already sold out - and they haven’t made a huge fuss about restocking anytime soon. That said, the HJC I-100 Flip Front Helmets are still hanging around at £149.99 (down from £249.99). Modular helmets are divisive, but if you ride year-round, or just enjoy the concept of talking to petrol station attendants without yelling, these are well-built, durable, and subtle enough to not scream "mid-life crisis."
Shoei and Arai fans hoping for record-low deals will find the pickings slim. The Shoei X-SPR Pro Dean Harrison Replica is available - at £819.99. That’s the discounted price. So yes, it’s a limited edition. No, it does not come with actual race wins included.
Kevlar, Jeans & Other Denim-Based Delusions
Webbs appears fond of Venti’s Kevlar riding jeans, which are now hovering at around £59.99. Not bad, especially for those who want gear that doesn’t advertise itself with reflective strips the size of dinner plates. The Crank and Toro jeans come in various shades of blue and black, and while they won’t replace proper armour, they will at least stop a minor slide from becoming a major regret.
There are also Kevlar riding hoodies and shirts - including something called the Rogue - reduced from £139.99 to £69.99. Good luck explaining to your mother why your "hoodie" cost more than her last three winter coats. Still, they’re lighter than a full textile rig and useful for short hops when looking like a Power Ranger isn’t strictly necessary.
Weirdly Good Gloves
Don’t sleep on the gloves. Triumph’s own 2-in-1 Gore-Tex gloves are now £79.99, down from £165. They’re overbuilt in the way modern gloves often are - liner this, insert that, Gore-Tex ducting somewhere in the back. But they’re waterproof and warm, and unlike cheaper gloves, they probably won’t become smellable from three post-rain rides alone.
Delivery, Returns & The Fine Print
Webbs offers standard UK shipping, generally within a few days - nothing outrageous, nothing miraculous. Shipping costs are usually calculated at checkout but trend toward the reasonable, and you can always pickup in-store if you’re within striking distance of Peterborough or Lincoln. Refunds and returns follow the usual terms: unused, tags intact, etc. As ever, reading the small print before you try to swap a worn helmet is highly advised.
Final Lap
All told, Webbs’ spring sale is worth a look - especially if you need to replace ageing kit without getting financial side-eye from your significant other. The discounts are real (if not always remarkable), and most of the gear is the kind that’s bought by riders who actually ride, not influencers doing burnouts in car parks.
Just go in with a list, a budget, and the awareness that some of the best stuff has already sold out. Which is possibly the subtlest endorsement of all.
