"No Scrub" Cleaning? We Tried Wet & Forget So You Don’t Have To
Spring tends to inspire many things: optimism, breakout hay fever, and a vague sense of obligation to clean the patio. The last one, like most good intentions, often dies sometime between turning over your deck chairs and realising everything outside is mysteriously green again. Enter Wet & Forget - a brand that promises something better than elbow grease: no scrub cleaning. Just spray it, leave it, and allegedly watch the grime slip away as if you'd asked it politely.
At this point, the idea that a cleaning product "does the work for you" is a familiar boast. Whether or not it’s true is usually revealed hours later, via aching forearms or a disappointing before-after photo comparison. Wet & Forget bills itself differently. The proposition is measured, not miraculous. Apply. Walk away. Wait. Days, maybe weeks. A little like hiring a very relaxed gardener who doesn't ask for payment or supervision.
How It Works (Allegedly)
Wet & Forget’s lineup includes a range of products with names stripped of pretense: Outdoor Mould, Lichen & Algae Remover (available in concentrate or "Rapid Application" pre-mixed versions), Weekly Shower Cleaner, and even treatments for greenhouses, windows, and boats - which might be aspirational if all you’re trying to clean is the flowerpots.
The hero ingredient across the product range is benzalkonium chloride (a quaternary ammonium compound, if you're into that sort of thing). It's not uncommon in surface cleaners, and yes, it actually does kill algae and mould. It just doesn’t work immediately. The key to using Wet & Forget is patience. The application takes under ten minutes. The actual cleaning takes a few days to a few weeks. Longer if the weather forgets to be British for a while.

Pricing, Discounts and Delivery
Pricing is fair enough for a "no effort" option. The concentrate Outdoor Remover, for example, currently runs about £29.95 on their UK site, though there’s a 10% off promotion running until 24 May 2025. It applies to all products except sprayers, presumably because sprayers are more commitment than cleanliness. Standard pricing remains in mid-range territory - not bargain-bin cheap, but not gout-inducing either. There’s also a rewards scheme if you like your cleaning products to feel gamified.
Shipping is free next-business-day across the UK mainland if you order before 2 PM. That kind of efficiency generally doesn’t extend to the product itself, which remains committed to the 'slow burn' school of cleanliness. Deliveries to Highlands, Islands, and a few other scenic outliers come with a £3 charge and less haste (up to five days transit), but wet patios are rarely urgent targets.
The (Non)Thrill of the Spray
The application itself is easy, and quiet in the way that only hose-connected cleaning jobs can be. The Ready to Use version has a pseudo-industrial feel thanks to the click-fit connector. Just twist on, spray liberally, and walk away - unless you’re a completist who feels obliged to stand and supervise. You don’t need to scrub, scrape, or even rinse. You're left with damp paving stones and the faintly smug glow of someone who didn't fall for another pressure washer ad.
Within a week or two - weather cooperating - most users report visible results. Mossy paths lighten to a stony grey, lichen dulls, and the vague green film on walls quietly vacates. It won’t bring your patio back to showroom condition, but it will almost certainly make it look like no one’s been composting on it. For infectious levels of sparkle, you’ll still need a broom. Or divine intervention.
What About the Shower Stuff?

The Weekly Shower Cleaner is even more forgiving, designed for the minimalists among us who believe maintenance should require no more effort than remembering a spray bottle exists. Spray on Monday, rinse on Tuesday. Skip Wednesday. Repeat the following week. It does handle soap scum reasonably well - fewer streaks, definitely less slime - but don’t expect hotel-glass clarity unless your idea of "grime" is already pretty gentle.
The scent is less caustic than some bathroom cleaners and unlikely to offend anyone whose shower routine includes more than one eucalyptus-based product. Also bleach-free, so it won’t fade towels, children’s bath toys, or your suspicion that it's mostly water.
Returns, Refunds, Regrets
If you decide the results aren’t radical enough or simply expected faster chemistry, Wet & Forget allows 21 days for returns. You’ll be on the hook for return postage, which in the grand scheme of modern regrets is a minor inconvenience. Damaged or faulty goods, meanwhile, do get full replacement credit - hardly revolutionary, but dependable.
Verdict: Relaxed Cleaning for the Chronically Busy
Wet & Forget isn’t the cheapest solution. Nor is it the fastest. But it’s probably the only one that rewards you for doing basically nothing for three weeks. That’s not laziness - it’s delegation. If you can resist the urge to immediately blast dirt off with pressure and noise, the gradual transformation this offers becomes oddly satisfying.
The promise of "no scrubbing" is, for once, not hyperbole. Just don’t mistake that for "instant" or "perfect." It’s cleaning for the time-poor and medium-chore-averse - people who might deeply resent their patio but not quite enough to get blisters over it. In that context, Wet & Forget is less a cleaning product and more a slow, gentle exit strategy for grime.

Wet and Forget Shipping
On the UK mainland, Wet and Forget offers free next business day delivery—as long as you order before 2 p.m. Miss the cutoff, and you're looking at a two-day wait. This offer does not extend to bank holidays or, presumably, acts of God. Delivery times are stated as estimates, not guarantees. Blame for any delays can be directed toward the usual suspects: weather, couriers, or excessive enthusiasm from other customers.
For those further afield—Highlands, islands, and other postal outliers—delivery costs £3 and may take up to five business days. Still, not bad if you live somewhere with more sheep than postcodes.
Wet and Forget Returns
Buyer's remorse? You have 21 days to return your items, though you'll need to cover the shipping back. Returns start with a contact form or a polite email. Including your order number is not optional unless you enjoy administrative limbo.
Refunds happen once the goods arrive back at HQ, and while the company moves quickly, your bank might not. As ever, patience is advised.
Damaged or Faulty Products
If something turns up broken or malfunctioning, customer service invites you to get in touch. The tone suggests they’ll sort it out without too much fuss. A reassuringly low-drama approach to defects.
